Remittances
by Courier are basically allowed only for personal gifts
up to US$ 500.00
There are several restrictions for remittances by Courier
1) If sender has a Import License (G/I: Guia de
Importação usually Nr. is 18-96/123456-1 etc.)
(*)This case is a legal Import
If you send by Courier
Consignee can't remit exchange officialy through a Bank
Consignee can't take advantage of free tax or low duty
Consignee can't sell as Commercial Merchandise
Consignee can't use as Industrial Parts
Please recommend sender to
ship directly from Exporter to Importer and clearance by
authorized customs broker
2) Special Import process also have to be shipped
directly from Exporter to Importer.
No Exchange (Sem Cobertura Cambial)
To Free Zone (Zona Livre) with tax-free
Draw Back
Tax free products
Tax-Free home-move
Unaccompanied luggage
etc.
If you send by Courier you
lose all advantages and need to pay 60% TAX
3) Used Industrial Machines
Used Cars
Normally not allowed to be imported officially
It is recommended not to accept remittance by Courier
4) Price Label/Brand Label/merchandise Tag
for Brasilian Export Product
for ex. Label for shoes/shirts, etc.
It is not recommended to
handle these products, because in the future (4 - 5
years) if exporter is imprisioned as smuggler, label and
tag carrier are also accused of crime for cooperating.
